Reading...Give it a Shot
BHS has enrolled in the Calgary Flames reading program. Students will be bringing home tracking sheets to monitor how much they read each day. Can you please sign the spot needed if they are reading at home? 1hr read = 1 Flames hockey card in grade 6. Once they collect all 24, they can move onto the bonus card collection of Harvey the Hound doing funny things! The reading competition starts now and ends early December. The more they read the more chance we have of the Calgary Flames visiting our school! Thank you for your support and work with encouraging your child to read! Go Flames Go!
BRING TOWELS AND BATHING SUITS for MONDAY AND TUESDAY!
Swimming incident today: the class before us had an accident in the pool and we had to evacuate the water. Unsure if we will get another lesson or a longer one, one day. Have a talk with your child about proper hygiene in the pool.
I am away tomorrow, the students have Mathletics, then grade 2 buddies - mad libs and more math, then a big art project, then gym.
We started with Ignite and then read with our grade 3 buddies.
Today we corrected our math as a class on the board. Then we did silent reading until swimming.
After swimming we had a mini health lesson about proper hygiene after the pool incident.
In social we started our provincial government unit by brainstorming on our own, then in groups, then as a class about what they think / thought they already knew about it from the previous unit. We then dove into a wild talk about PST and GST and where the money goes / how it is suppose to work.
We hope everyone has a thrifty Thursday!
