Mr. Shackelton’s Awesome Grade 6 Class Contract

I ______________________ hereby agree to follow all rules and regulations posted within this binding document.

Rules and Regulations

1.     Follow the Pillars of Care

2.     No foul language

3.     Be polite and respectful to others

4.     No vandalism

5.     Be quiet when someone else is talking

6.     No littering

7.     No physical/verbal harm to others

8.     No stealing

9.     Be respectful not wasteful with school supplies

10.  Follow the ‘Golden Rule’ – treat others how you want to be treated

11.  Respect all adults and students in the building – including substitutes

12.  Limit ‘under your breath comments’ and eye rolls

13.  NO BULLYING! (especially cyberbullying, we’re a team here!)

14.  Respect others personal space and beliefs

15.  Be mature, especially during assemblies

16.  Be inclusive

17.  Use the bathroom system: plunger on your desk and sign in/out

18.  Be honest, truthful and help others: outside, in class, and in the halls

19.  Be a leader

20.  Don’t be lazy! Take initiative 

21.  No FOOD/garbage in your desk!

22.  SUBMIT HOMEWORK ON TIME!

23.  Raise your hand to talk and wait to be called

24.  Stand up for yourself

25.  Own your learning, your behavior, your words, and your actions

Penalty Box:

-A trifold is placed around student’s desk until they reflect on their behavior / complete missing assignments

-It is a way to keep the student in the classroom instead of working in another teacher’s room or the office

1. Parents will be informed and have to agree

2. Length of PB will depend on severity of incident

3. Classroom time and recess time will be spent in the box

4. No electronics unless needed for assignments

How the Penalty Box Happens:

A)    Putting yourself and/or others in danger

B)    Any type of serious verbal/physical altercation with other students/staff

C)    Disrespecting an adult in the building (ex: aggression towards EAs, office, or lunchroom)

D)    Owing Mr. Shackelton/Mr. Mueller/Ms. Winston more than 3 homework assignments for a long period of time
