Week 1 Goals for work - please read it has all the instructions!

Hey everyone,

Here are the tasks for week 1 of online learning.

Math: This week you will focus on 2D Shapes and Perimeter. Use the google doc to find all your notes and links needed to complete the tasks. 

Day 1-2
Watch Mathantics videos on polygons, quadrilaterals and triangles.

Day 3-4

Day 5 
Complete Mathletics tasks in the Shapes and Perimeter units

Extra Work/Extensions
Work on any outstanding Mathletics units that we have previously covered.
Try the geometry puzzles (super challenge puzzle is an extension) in the second Google Doc provided.

PE Homeroom teacher led

On Tuesday and Thursday's please do one of the activities on the choice board for at least 30 min.
You do not have to do the activity during the Phys. Ed. time on the schedule. 
Do it whenever you have time on that day and the weather cooperates.
Please highlight the activity you did once back in the Google Classroom.
Once you have completed at least 5, hand it in to your teacher.

Science

Read through the booklet and watch the videos below.
Then answer the questions on the Google document and hand it in!
Follow the  steps below before answering it!

1) Read through the Electricity Booklet (chapter 1 - pages 1- 13)
2) Watch the Bill Nye Video
3) Explore the Circuit website
4) Google Questions Document => needs to be handed in to your teacher

Social Studies:

Iroquois Confederacy Lessons 1 and 2 

-watch the videos in lesson 1 and answer the questions in the google doc

-For lesson 2, you will have to read 7 pages from the textbook, and answer 6 questions

LA: 

A) News Article Lesson 1

LEARNING GOALS:
- Identify the elements of print and online news articles.
- Use context and reference materials to identify the meanings of unfamiliar words.

For this week's LA, you need to begin by looking at the powerpoint called News Article Intro. When you have gone through all 20 slides, you can complete the activity called News Article Intro Fill in the Blank. You can refer to the notes slides if you are unsure of an answer.

After that, the order in which you complete the tasks is up to you. There is an activity on writing headlines, one on reading and finding specific vocabulary in an article, and another on reading articles and explaining why you think they made the news. Some activities have a must / should / could component and some (shorter tasks) are all must.

B) News Articles Lesson 2

Make sure to read the instructions found within each lesson.
