Friday, January 28th

Reminders

1. No school Monday

2. Report Cards will be live Monday through your parent portal on PowerSchool! 

3. IPPs are sent home to be signed on the part 2 and returned in ASAP


Today we read and prepared for the assembly.  We shared what we learned about sustainability to the school from The Legend of the Buffalo Stone. 

After gym, we had snack then we finished off picture prompt story on the laptops.

If students were done they worked on their mathletics to prepare for the basic fact quiz.

After mathletics we did our spelling test and corrected it.

Then we did our basic fact quiz. 


We ended the day with some PE outside since we only had 10mins of gym due to the assembly.

Patroller information!

 Attention all patrollers,

On Wednesday February 2nd you will be receiving patroller training in the gym from 8:30-9:30am.

An announcement will be made when the patrollers need to come for training. 
We will have our schedule sent out shortly after the training is complete. 
Patrollers will only be patrolling in the mornings for now. Hopefully, we can have some parent volunteers join us so we can do pm patrolling.

Thursday, January 27th

 Reminders:

3. Patrollers will be starting very soon  --- training  starts Feb 2nd!  --- Parents we need you to volunteer AM or PM

4. Pillars of Care virtual assembly Friday, winners are posted. 


Today we dove into the moon phases in science and went to the library.  After gym, we continued to learn about local government and ended up discussing the new arena deal that went South, and how that was able to happen.

We then read our new books for a before doing mathletics.   We also go the Pillars of Care display board ready for the school.

Pillars of Care Winners for January!

Care for Others: Cydney - She is such a kind soul.  She cares for others, whether they are in our class, outside at recess, or in the hall.  She is so cheerful and always willing to help.

Care for Learning: Tina - She set a goal for herself this term to improve her spelling and basic facts.  She has been improving each quiz in both, keep up the great work! 


Care for Place: Rosco - He always volunteers to clean the laptops, plug them in, plug in the iPads + keyboards, and asks after school if there is anything he can do to help.  Thank you for being a stellar student. 


Care for Self: Ammar - Ammar recently set a goal to not be late to school and make our first lesson on time.  He has shown great care for self by meeting this goal.


Pillar of the Month: Huu - During our lesson about ‘The Legend of the Buffalo Stone’ he showed great insight and wisdom in his reflection questions.

Tuesday, January 25th

Today we read to start to the day.   Then we learned about the 7 types of triangles (based on their angles and side length.  Then we started to classify them and add up the interior angles. 

In science we finished learning about rotation, orbit, axis, and revolution, we will be moving to lunar cycles next. 

In social we read the story The Legend of the Buffalo Stone.  We learned a lot about sustainability and about the history of the Blackfoot land. 

In the afternoon we brushed up our typing skills, teamwork through Minecraft, and did 2 quizzes on Mathletics.

Hey all,

Sorry about last week, was in the report card crunch time and it slipped my mind after work to do.

Please email me if you want for your kids if they are sick at home for long periods of time. 



Today we cleaned up all the gymnastics for the school, both sides of the gym.  Then we started our fitness week that we do to end each month in gym.  


In science we almost finished ROAR and will be moving to moon phases.

In social we learned about bylaws, protests, and rallies.  We then talked about the Canadian Convoy protest. 

In LA we did spelling sentences.

In math we are learning about angles and triangles for our new unit.

Today we worked on our basic facts, and continued with our graphing assignment.  Then we had a library period to get new books and read. 

In social we learned about by laws and local taxes.  We will be continuing to learn more about bylaws. 

In gym we did gymnastics but worked with buddies for poses. 

Then we read another chapter of HP1, and are getting close to finishing it.

In the afternoon the students had a chance to finish the work thats due Monday, to work on their spelling definitions, and to quiz each other on their spelling words spelling for tomorrow.

Today we worked on graphing in math.  How to survey others, make tally sheets, proper scales, legends, labels, and grid spacing.  We will be finishing that review tomorrow. 

In gym we worked on gymnastic routines.

In LA we took down another chapter and questions in Harry Potter 1.  The students are really loving the book!

In science we worked on rotations, revolutions, orbit, and the seasons that turned into a 1.5hour lesson as the students were very curious about it.

In the afternoon we worked on our solar systems / cities and the Minecraft challenge that ends this month that I signed the class up for.

2. Welcome back! Thank you for all the sweet gifts and kind words in the cards! You guys made my Christmas not going home this, so thank you so much! 

3. Home test kits will be sent home when we get them.  Personally I will be doing mine every 3-4 days when I get mine.


It felt good to be back today! 


We read and caught up.  Then we did a measurement review in math.

In LA we continued with our novel study.

After recess and snack we had a class meeting about covid,  mask expectations and shared some theories about if we were to go online. 


In Gym we are doing our gymnastics unit.


In science we worked on our solar system diagrams they started before the break.


In social we worked on our cities they started before the break.
