Principal's Message About Parent/Teacher interviews this week

Principal's Message - Beddington Heights

Official student–centered conferences are scheduled for this upcoming Thursday and Friday. Grade 1- 6 interviews will be Thursday evening (3:30pm-7:30pm) and Friday (8:00am-1:00pm) during the day. Kindergarten will have a slightly different schedule, as interviews will run both Thursday (8:00am-7:30pm) and Friday (8:00am-1:00pm) during the day. Some teachers may be contacting you to make other arrangements to complete their interviews earlier in the week.

Interviews will be booked in 15-minute time slots with 10 minutes of discussion. A 5 minute buffer to accommodate for technology and other contingencies is in place to keep interviews running smoothly and recognize those who are waiting for their interview time. Interviews will focus on student goals in literacy, math, and a personal well being goal.

Interviews will be held virtually using Microsoft Teams. Once you book an interview, you will automatically receive the URL in your invite. If you are using a laptop, you will not need the Microsoft Teams App as Microsoft Teams can be accessed on your browser. If you choose to use your phone, you will have to download the app beforehand. If you would like to schedule a separate meeting with administration, there is an opportunity for you to do so.

As part of the interview process, when you log into Microsoft teams, you will enter into a virtual lobby where you will wait until the teacher admits you. Please be patient. Teachers will get to you when they have completed their previous interview. Please respect the time limits set for the interview to ensure that everyone has sufficient time to meet with their child’s teacher.

We are excited to bring this opportunity to you as a new method of conducting interviews. While we do prefer to see you in person, we recognize that this method is necessary during our COVID health pandemic as we continue to focus on student learning.
